Non-Client Residents

Non-client residents are persons that live in entity facilities and have or are expected to have contact with entity clients, but are not themselves clients. Examples include:

  • The spouse of a licensee, residing in an adult family home
  • The son or daughter of a licensee returning from college for the summer to reside in an entity facility

Non-client residents may have close contact with vulnerable entity clients. To ensure their safety, entities are required, to apply for a "Non-Client Resident" background check and obtain approval from the Division of Quality Assurance before allowing them to live in the facility. Entities are also required to provide notification to the Division of Quality of Assurance when a new non-client resident intends to reside in an entity facility.
