Medicaid and FoodShare Partner Resources

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) partners with organizations across the state. These partners help residents with applications and enrollment for the programs DHS administers. As a part of its partnerships, DHS provides:

  • Handbooks and publications explaining eligibility policy and processes, and enrollment resources
  • Partner calls to support agencies with policy updates and questions
  • The ForwardHealth Partner inbox to answer partner questions
  • Support with applications for federal funding, where available, to support partner outreach activities

Federal budget reconciliation act impacts

The budget reconciliation act (known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act) passed July 4, 2025, included provisions that affect Wisconsin’s Medicaid and FoodShare programs. Members should make sure their phone number, email, and mailing address on file are up to date. | August 2025

During our next update, we plan to address the timeline for the changes coming to Medicaid and FoodShare because of the budget reconciliation act signed into law on July 4. | August 2025

Intensive outpatient treatment available

Members of BadgerCare Plus and other Wisconsin Medicaid programs now have access to more treatment for substance use and mental health disorders. Intensive outpatient treatment is a new covered level of care that can help members build a healthier life. | March 2025
