Small Talks: How WI Prevents Underage Drinking

Underage drinking isn’t harmless fun. School-aged kids are going through a critical period of physical and emotional growth. Kids who drink alcohol during this time expose their developing brains, lives, and mental health to serious, even deadly, consequences. Start talking with kids about the risks of underage drinking starting at age 8. We call these short, casual conversations small talks.

Understand underage drinking

Knowing why kids drink alcohol is the first step toward having successful small talks.

Start talking

Having small talks is important, but it's not the only thing adults can do to prevent underage drinking.

Be a positive influence

It takes a community to change the perception of underage drinking and give kids the confidence to grow up alcohol-free.

Go beyond alcohol
