Resources for Legislators and Legislative Staff

The Department of Health Services, like other state agencies, relies on the Wisconsin State Legislature for oversight, funding, and policy direction. Our relationship with the legislature allows us to carry out our mission to protect and promote the health and safety of the people of Wisconsin, ensuring everyone lives their best life.

The primary point of contact between DHS and lawmakers is the legislative affairs team within of the Office of the Secretary. The legislative director and deputy legislative director respond to all legislative inquiries and monitor legislation that affects the department's program and services, working directly with policymakers.

Our goal is to keep Wisconsin legislators up to date about DHS programs and services, and give them information they need to help constituents.
