Wisconsin Trauma Care System: Triage Protocols
Implementation of triage protocols
Patient triage is an important topic for all components of the trauma care system. Wisconsin Admin. Code ch. DHS 118 provides the authority for the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) to "guide Regional Trauma Advisory Councils (RTAC) plan development," including triage and transport protocols.
The 2022 National Guideline for the Field Triage of Injured Patients has been approved and endorsed by DHS, the Statewide Trauma Advisory Council (STAC), and the EMS Advisory Board during the statewide meetings in June 2022.
