EMS: Adding to the Service Roster
A doctor, physician assistant, or RN (registered nurse) may take the place of an emergency medical technician at any service level if:
- The person is trained and competent in all emergency medical technician skills, medicines, and equipment.
- The service medical director approves.
Note: A physician assistant or RN may not practice at a higher level of care than the level at which the service is licensed. View the Wisconsin EMS Scope of Practice, P-00451 (PDF). It defines the skills, procedures, and medicines that are allowed at each license level.
How to add a member
To add a member to your service roster, follow these steps:
- Create an E-Licensing account if you don’t already have one.
- Upload certification documents.
2.1. Go the Applications tab in E-Licensing and select Certification Reporting.
2.2. Upload CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) certification (required for all providers).
2.3. Upload advanced cardiovascular life support if you’re practicing at the intermediate or paramedic level. - Complete the form, Physician, Physician Assistant, and Registered Nurse Equivalency Application, F-00614. (Word) Send it to your EMS regional coordinator.
