Resolution Requesting Recruitment and Retention Initiatives to Address the Public Health Nurse Workforce Shortage in Wisconsin (PDF) - October 2024

Supports creative solutions to address the public health nurse workforce shortage in Wisconsin, diversifies the public health nurse workforce to better represent the populations served, and with specific emphasis on areas of the state experiencing critical recruitment issues/needs.

Resolution Requesting the Optimization of the Public Health Nurse Role for Improved Population Health Outcomes (PDF) - October 2024

Identifies the need to support new approaches, strategies, and data sharing to bridge gaps between population health needs and public health prevention strategies, including technology needs for interoperability and data modernization to achieve population health goals.

Resolution Requesting Reinstatement of the Wisconsin Department of Health Services Director of Public Health Nursing Position (PDF) - June 2024

Recommends the reinstatement of the Director of Public Health Nursing position, given the need for Wisconsin to have an advanced executive public health nurse leader who provides leadership, guidance and support to state and local units of government who have public health nurses providing critical public health nursing services, to residents of the State of Wisconsin, and other directors of nursing in communities, hospitals and clinics, nursing homes, schools, and other healthcare settings.

Resolution on Impact of Social Connection and Belonging on the Health and Wellbeing of Individuals, Families and Communities (PDF) - April 2024

Developed after the State Health Improvement Plan (SHIP) team provided a deep dive presentation of the priority area. This resolution strongly supports the SHIP priority area and the strategies described to improve community connections, social support, and belonging. It recommends that Wisconsin’s governmental agencies and public health system partners support these strategies and engage with community voices during decision making processes on all levels.

Resolution Requesting the Implementation of Corrective Public Health Emergency Preparedness Actions as Identified from the COVID-19 Pandemic Response (PDF) - April 2024

Developed following a presentation from the Council’s PHEP Advisory committee with lessons learned from After Action Report efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic. It recommends that the state coordinates, completes and shares standardized After Action Reports in future Public Health emergencies. Key partners are highlighted including local & tribal health departments, emergency management services, and health & health systems representatives.

Resolution Requesting Governor Evers Veto Anti-Trans Provisions in Wisconsin Budget (PDF) - July 2023

Requests that the provisions of the Wisconsin 2023-25 Biennial Budget related to the denial of gender affirming care be vetoed.

Resolution Requesting Removal of Local Health Officer Authority Provisions from Shared Revenue Bill (PDF) - May 2023

Requests that the provisions of Assembly Bill 245 relating to the authority of local health officers be removed. 

MPOX Resolution (PDF) - May 2023

Supports the Wisconsin Governor, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, and the Wisconsin State Legislature allocating all appropriate human and financial resources for a robust and proactive response to the MPOX outbreak to include focus on prevention of its spread.

Resolution by the Wisconsin Public Health Council Recognizing the Efforts of the Wisconsin Public Health System during the COVID-19 Pandemic (PDF) - November 2021

Recognizes and commends local, Tribal, and state public health personnel and their partners for their selfless devotion to service and extend sincere gratitude for keeping Wisconsinites healthy and safe.

Wisconsin Public Health Council Statement Regarding Vaccination and Current Measles Outbreak (PDF) - June 2019

Advises that state and public health action should be taken urgently to ensure vaccination of every eligible person in the state except for those rare individuals with a valid medical exemption, to prevent measles-related illness, hospitalization, and death in Wisconsin.
