Oral Health Program: PRAMS Data

Since 2007, Wisconsin has been participating in the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) and collecting population-based data that is not found in other data sources.

Wisconsin PRAMS is a yearly survey administered in collaboration with the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) that collects population-based data on birthing persons attitudes and experiences before, during, and shortly after pregnancy. The survey asks three oral health specific questions about dental cleanings during pregnancy, oral health education, dental issues during pregnancy, and barriers to dental care.

Oral health during pregnancy - data dashboard

The dashboard below includes summary data on each of Wisconsin PRAMS oral health topics for the 2016-2020 survey years.

The top section of the dashboard addresses dental cleaning during pregnancy; including an overall percentage of respondents that had a dental cleaning during a given year, and provides additional insights by insurance type, and race and ethnicity. The lower section addresses the remaining topics, but does not include demographic distributions due to data limitations.

Note: While the terms maternal, mothers, and moms are commonly used, this dashboard uses the term birthing persons to be inclusive of all individuals who give birth.
