Overview

The Governor's Autism Council was appointed to advise the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) on strategies for implementing statewide supports and services for children with autism and their families.

The council specifically addresses some of the important issues identified below:

  • Early diagnosis and intervention
  • Transitions
  • Family coordination and navigation of systems and services
  • Best practices for interventions and service provision

Read and share the Wisconsin IDD-MH System Improvement Report

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) released the Wisconsin IDD-MH System Improvement Report (PDF) on June 25, 2024. The report includes 37 specific recommendations from DHS, self-advocates, partners, providers, and others from across the state for how to improve systems and services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental health (IDD-MH) needs.
