Emergency Medical Services for Children

EMTs and hospital staff performing triage.

Children are not small adults. Injured and sick children have special needs and require a different approach to care than adults.

The goal of the Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) program is to improve the quality of emergency care for children. Program activities are directed to ensure the availability of appropriate resources and adequately trained personnel in order to effectively meet the emergency care needs of the critically sick and injured child.

Program activities are directed by the EMSC Advisory Board. The Co-Chairpersons of the Advisory Board are:

Michael Kim, MD, FAAP, UW Hospital and Clinics
Lorin Browne, DO, FAAP, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin
