Food and Nutrition Assistance

The following information provides information about the public assistance food and nutrition assistance options for low-income Wisconsin residents:

FoodShare Wisconsin: FoodShare is Wisconsin's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and it helps low-income Wisconsin residents buy food. FoodShare Wisconsin was previously called Food Stamps.

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP): A federal program that provides food commodities to distribution sites that are then provided to food pantries and meal sites.

Commodity Supplemental Food Program: Offers free, nutritious foods to low-income seniors aged 60 years and older.

Wisconsin Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program: Offers low-income older citizens with an opportunity to purchase fresh, locally-grown fruits, vegetables and herbs from certified farmers. This program is only available in participating counties (PDF)

Wisconsin's Elderly Nutrition Program: Nutrition programs and resources for people age 60 or older.

Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC): WIC promotes and maintains the health and well-being of nutritionally at-risk pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women; infants; and children.
