Intoxicated Driver Program
The Intoxicated Driver Program assesses and treats people who have been convicted of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs, including alcohol, cannabis, methamphetamines, opioids, and prescription medications.
Assessment
People convicted of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated must undergo an assessment of their drug use at an approved facility.

All assessments follow a standard interview process. Assessments also may involve an analysis of records, reports, and information provided from others.
Driver safety plan
The driver safety plan outlines what must be done in response to the findings of the assessment. These actions may include:
- Attending a traffic safety program (or similar education program). Participants discuss in a group their substance use habits and ways to make changes to help avoid drug-impaired driving.
- Completing a comprehensive substance use treatment program. This may mean being admitted to a facility for up to 30 days.
- Going to an intoxicated driving victim impact panel.
- Having a psychiatric evaluation.
