MMHI: Prohibited Items at Maximum Security Units
The following items may not be brought in at visitation with maximum security patients.
- Weapons (firearms, knives, explosives, or facsimiles of these items)
- Sharp items and potential weapons (such as: hacksaw blades, razor blades, scissors, etc.)
- Any item made from glass
- Any metal item (without prior unit staff approval, call the unit)
- Electronic surveillance devices
- Rope or electrical cords exceeding six feet in length
- Toxic substances, including cleaning supplies and laundry soap
- Devices with external recording capacity (such as: cameras, turntables, records, etc.)
- Flammables, including paints and paint thinner, lighter fluids, lighters
- Matches
- Medications (over-the-counter and prescription)
- Extension cords, three-way plugs
- Alcohol, mouthwash, or similar preparations with alcohol content, materials for making alcohol, drugs, illegal substances or drug paraphernalia
- Belts exceeding 2 inches wide
- Belt buckles exceeding three inches by two inches or weighing over four ounces
- Sexual products, appliances, or literature depicting sexual behavior with minors, aggressive or coerced sexual behavior, sadomasochistic behavior
- Incense or candles
- Reading material that describes making of weapons, explosives, or other devices which may be used in an escape
- Suspenders
- Batteries (except as given to unit staff directly)
- Excessive food (as defined by unit staff)
