Pseudomonas Folliculitis (Hot Tub Rash)

Pseudomonas folliculitis is an inflammation of the hair follicles caused by infection with the bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It has been reported in people using hot tubs, whirlpools, saunas, swimming pools, waterslides, and physiotherapy pools.

Pseudomonas folliculitis first appears as itchy bumps and develops into dark red, tender nodules and/or small, pus-filled pimples on the trunk and upper parts of the arms and legs. Other symptoms may include headache, nausea, sore throat, sore eyes, and fever.
