Wisconsin Suspected Overdose Alerts for Rapid Response (WiSOARR)

What is WiSOARR?

The Wisconsin Suspected Overdose Alerts for Rapid Response (WiSOARR) is a statewide alert system for Wisconsin professionals who work in overdose prevention and response. This alert system allows professionals to monitor for suspected overdose events in their communities to inform actions that can be taken by the community, information shared to the public, and activities to prevent overdose spikes.

The WiSOARR system includes:

  • Data from multiple sources, including emergency department visits and emergency medical encounters, with future plans to integrate data from law enforcement and suspected fatal overdose incidents.
  • Customizable, shareable alert profiles to facilitate dissemination of timely overdose spike alerts for collaborative teams.
  • Training and education materials on how to use the system to meet community response needs.
  • Resources and reactionary steps for partner agencies when an alert is issued.
