Health Priority: Overweight, obesity, and lack of physical activity
Objective 1: Physical activity for children and adolescents
Between 2000 and 2010, increase the proportion of Wisconsin
adolescents who report they engaged in at least 30 minutes of moderate
physical activity, on five or more of the previous seven days, from 27
percent to 37 percent.
Objective 2: Physical activity for adults
Between 2000 and 2010, increase the proportion of Wisconsin
adults who reported they engaged in any physical activity during the past
month from 78 percent to 88 percent.
Sufficient Evidence for Effectiveness was found for the following
interventions:
Insufficient Evidence to Determine Effectiveness was found for the
following interventions:
Mixed Evidence was found for the following interventions:
(none)
Sufficient Evidence for Ineffectiveness was found for the following
interventions:
(none)
Limitations:
While this objective has been divided into physical activity for
children and adolescents and physical activity for adults, this
division is not reflected in the interventions. Additionally, most
interventions reviewed were multidimensional, incorporating both
physical activity and dietary components. Multiple approaches were
used, such as educational, behavioral, and family and professional
involvement. All of these components made it difficult to assess
effectiveness of a single part of the intervention. This review
excludes surgical interventions.
