Webcast of August 2009 Bright Futures Training Session - Over 80 persons attended the Bright Futures training, Incorporating Bright Futures into Public Health Practice, on August 17, 2009 in Stevens Point in conjunction with the 2009 State Public Health Nursing Conference. Bright Futures presentations included a General Overview of Bright Futures: Guidelines for Health Supervision of Infants, Children, and Adolescents by one of the authors, Paula Duncan, MD, FAAP, and Jane Bassewitz, MA, staff of American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Dr. Duncan also presented the afternoon session, Promoting Family Support in Healthy Development-Strength Based Approaches. Other informative presentations to demonstrate use of the Bright Futures materials by health departments in Wisconsin were presented by Gretchen Klug of Dodge County Health Department and Paulette Mague or Eau Claire City-County Health Department. (Added October 2009) Planned 2010 Webcasts: The next step to promote the use of Bright Futures in Wisconsin is a series of live Webcasts jointly sponsored by the AAP and the state Department of Health Services, Division of Public Health, Family Health Section. These webcasts will focus on the needs of public health nurses and each will feature a specific Bright Futures theme.
