STATE VITAL RECORDS OFFICE CLOSED ON FRIDAY, AUGUST
14th
MADISON - State officials announce the Vital Records office
located at 1 West Wilson Street, Madison will be closed on Friday, August
14th in compliance with furlough requirements.
On Friday, individuals will not be able to apply in-person at the state
office in Madison for copies of birth, death, marriage or divorce
certificates, declarations of domestic partnership, or make genealogy
appointments. The state closure does not impact local County Clerk or
Register of Deed typical business hours, and consumers are encouraged to
contact their local office if a certificate is needed. The Vital Records
office will resume regular business hours on Monday, August 17, 2009.
The office will be closed as one of eight unpaid furlough days required
for each of the next two fiscal years. State employee furloughs for all
university and state employees are part of the 2009 – 2011 state budget
recently signed into law. Vital Records will be closed in 2009 on the
dates below:
- Friday, August 14, 2009
- Friday, September 4, 2009
- Monday, October 12, 2009 – Columbus Day
- Friday, November 27, 2009 – day after Thanksgiving
