Program
Mendota’s Civil Program provides services to
children, adolescents and adults who are in need of psychiatric treatment.
Civil commitments are sought
because the individual is mentally ill and dangerous to self or others.
All civil admissions to Mendota must be approved by the human service
department of the individual's county of residence.
Adult
Assessment and Treatment Unit (AATU)
A coed treatment unit for civil commitment
patients who are admitted involuntarily. Services
include assessment, brief treatment for stabilization of acute psychiatric
disturbance, and individualized behavioral treatment services. Visiting

Civil
Secure Treatment Unit (CSTU)
A 20 bed all male treatment unit for civil
commitment patients who are admitted involuntarily.
Services include assessment, treatment for stabilization of psychiatric
disturbance and individualized behavioral treatment services in a secure
environment
Geropsychiatric
Treatment Unit (GTU)
A coed treatment unit for elderly patients
needing specialized psychiatric evaluation and treatment, including
assessment of interacting physical and emotional problems of aging. A
multidisciplinary approach emphasizes supportive interventions, daily
living skills, personal relationships, and care of concurrent medical
problems.
