Mendota Mental Health Institute
Child / Adolescent Program
Mendota’s Civil Program provides services to
children, adolescents and adults who are in need of psychiatric treatment.
Civil commitments (which may be voluntary or involuntary) are sought because
the individual is mentally ill and dangerous to self or others. All civil
admissions to Mendota must be approved by the human service department of
the individual's county of residence.
Children's
Assessment and Treatment Unit (CATU)
An admission and treatment unit for emotionally
disturbed children age twelve and under. Patients typically function at a
three- to twelve-year old developmental level. More about

Adolescent Male Treatment Unit
(AMTU)
This is an admission and treatment unit for male
adolescents from counties and juvenile correctional institutions. Admission
requires diagnosis of a psychiatric disorder and a need for inpatient
treatment.
