Medicaid in Wisconsin

Worried about the federal government shutdown?

DHS is closely monitoring all of the activities occurring at the federal level, including the possibility of a government shutdown. Our goal is to keep the public informed, especially our Medicaid members who receive vital health care and services. In the event of a federal government shutdown on Friday, March 14, Medicaid and BadgerCare Plus members will still have coverage to get the care and services they need. We will share information as it becomes available. For updates, visit the Medicaid News page.

Wisconsin Medicaid is a joint federal and state program that helps more than 1 million residents get:

  • High-quality health care coverage.
  • Long-term care.
  • Other services that promote physical and mental health and well-being.

There are many types of Medicaid programs. Each has certain requirements you must meet if you want to enroll.
