Geographic Distribution of Service Populations, by
Consortium
Projections for the growing 65+
population, 2000 to 2030
The following maps of each long-term care planning consortium region
show how potential service populations are distributed geographically. For each region, there is a map showing the
distribution of the population age 60+, the low-income population age 60+,
and the younger population (age 16-64) with any disability. Information is
shown for Census tracts -- these are small geographic units created by the
U.S. Census Bureau for collecting and reporting population information.
Because they are smaller than counties, Census tracts are useful for
showing how populations are distributed within counties and around county
boundaries. All population information comes from the Census 2000.

Anticipated Population Change in Wisconsin
The Statewide Projections for the
Growing 65+ Population, 2000 to 2030 (PDF, 201 KB)
shows how Wisconsin's older population is projected to change over the
coming 25 years. By showing the percent of each county's population that
is projected to be age 65 and older at five year intervals, this document
highlights the growing concentration of older people and their changing
distribution across the state. All projections information comes from the
Wisconsin Department of Administration's Official Population Projections.
