New Varicella, Tdap, and PCV Requirements

Notice to: Health Care Providers

Effective September 1, 2008, the Wisconsin Student Immunization Law (HFS 144) was changed to include a second dose of varicella and a single dose of Tdap for students in schools and 2-3 doses of PCV vaccines for children in day care centers. These requirements will be phased in as follows:

*PCV (Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine)

To be compliant, the parent (or guardian) must provide to the school or day care center one of the following:

  1. The date of vaccination (mm/dd/yy); or
  2. An indication that the child has a history of chickenpox; or
  3. A waiver for health, religious or personal conviction reasons.
