Wisconsin Minority Health Leadership Council

The Wisconsin Minority Health Leadership Council was established in spring 2007 by the Department of Health Services. The vision, mission, and goals of the Council are stated below. This page will provide access to information about the Council's participants and activities.

Joint meeting, December 12, 2008
A joint meeting of the Wisconsin Minority Health Leadership Council, the Wisconsin Public Health Council, and the Healthiest Wisconsin 2020 (State Health Plan) Strategic Leadership Team will be held at Epic Systems Headquarters, Verona. Purpose: To review feedback from the HW2020 Community Engagement Forums (seven public forums and one Department of Health Services forum), and to identify priorities for recommendation to Secretary Timberlake.

Vision

The Wisconsin Minority Health Leadership Council (WMHLC) is a leading authority on understanding and communicating the health needs of racial and ethnic minority populations in Wisconsin.

Mission

The mission of the Wisconsin Minority Health Leadership Council (WMHLC) is to advocate for the elimination of health disparities and give a voice to health issues affecting racial and ethnic minority populations in Wisconsin.

Goals

The WMHLC will:

  1. Advise and educate the Department of Health Services (DHFS) Secretary, the Division of Public Health (DPH) Administrator, the Governor, the legislature, and the public on ways to improve the overall health and well-being of racial and ethnic minority populations in Wisconsin.

  2. Provide input regarding the development of strategies, goals, and program activities for the Wisconsin Minority Health Program.
