and Jurisdictions

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Division of Public Health, is responsible for managing programs that enforce applicable state administrative codes for the inspection and licensure of the following programs:

  • All food service operations including restaurants, food vending operations and temporary restaurants.
  • All lodging establishments including hotels, bed and breakfast establishments, and tourist rooming houses.
  • All public pools, including whirlpools and water recreational attractions.
  • All campgrounds and educational campgrounds.
  • All tattoo and body piercing establishments.
  • Contracting with, monitoring and training Local Public Health Departments who sign agreements to administer the aforementioned programs within their own jurisdictions. 

NOTE: if your county / community is not listed in the information that follows on this page, then the restaurant / hotel / motel and other facility inspections are conducted by the local agency, and not the state of Wisconsin.
