help
people with disabilities receive a Medical Assistance card, personal care, employment
counseling, a functional assessment and referrals.
Disability Benefit Specialists
Disability Benefit Specialists provide
confidential benefits counseling to people with a physical and/or
developmental disability. Participants must be 18 to 59 years old and live in
one of the counties providing the service. Elder
Benefit Specialists serve people 60 and over.
Disability Resource Centers
Aging and Disability Resource Centers offer "one-stop shopping"
to the general public, with a focus on issues affecting older people, people with
disabilities or their families. The centers provide information and assistance, long-term
care options counseling, benefits counseling, emergency response, prevention and early
intervention, and access to the Family
Care benefit.
The centers currently are available in a limited number of pilot
counties.
Office for Persons with Physical Disabilities
The Wisconsin Office for Persons with Physical Disabilities (OPPD) is a
coordinating point in state government for policies and services affecting people with
physical disabilities. OPPD is a unit of the Department of Health and Family Services,
Division of Disability and Elder Services, Bureau of Aging and Long Term Care Resources.
