Information
Services
(formerly Data Center)
The Information Services Department provides technology-based services
in support of operations at Central Center. Information Services staff
manage technology-based resources, provide technical support and training
to users of computer-based information systems at the Center, and promote
the use of technology to streamline business processes. Central Center’s
local area network of computers connects directly to the Department of
Health and Family Services, all DHFS institutions, other state agencies,
and the Internet.
Over 700 users of computer systems
at Central Wisconsin Center and 450 personal computers are networked, tied to the
Department of Health and Family Services Wide Area Network (WAN) through a Novel server
located at Mendota Mental Health Institute (MMHI). The WAN allows connectivity to
all DHFS institutions including 1 West Wilson and other State Agencies. All CWC
users are instructed in DHFS and CWC network policies and procedures. Network Training for all CWC staff is provided by the
IS staff.
Desktop technical support is provided to CWC network users, by calling
either the
DHFS Help Desk or CWC Tech Support, Monday through Friday and by on-call 24 X 7 coverage, nights, holidays, and
weekends.
The Information Services
Department is located at the Lakeside Building on the grounds of Mendota
Mental Health Institute.
