These services include Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy,
Respiratory Therapy and a Rehabilitation Technology Lab.
The primary focus of the Rehabilitation Services Department is to provide
rehabilitation services to the individuals who live at Central Wisconsin
Center (CWC).
In addition to the individuals who live at CWC, the Department sees
clients with developmental disabilities who are admitted to our Short-Term
Care Medical or Assessment Units. Individuals receive rehabilitation
services while at CWC and some require follow-up services. The services
available include Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation
Technology services.
Clients in our short-term care programs with significant musculoskeletal
problems whose needs are difficult to meet with existing community resources
can have adaptive equipment made through the Rehabilitation Technology Lab
at CWC.
Services include the fabrication of
- Custom seating systems
- Upper extremity splints
- Lower extremity orthotics
- Bed and floor positioners
To determine the person's needs and procure funding a multi-disciplinary
assessment is completed initially. Assessment varies with client's
needs but typically includes
- Physical Therapy (gross motor function, spasticity, deformities)
- Occupational Therapy (fine motor function,
mealtime, activities of daily living)
- Orthotics Technician
- Physician consult
Prior authorizations and claims are filed with insurance companies or
Medicaid. Private pay is also an option for items not covered by insurance.
The individual is assessed and fitted with the custom equipment to meet
his/her needs. Appropriate fit is facilitated by the customization process
of each piece.
Following the receipt of the equipment, therapists and technicians remain
available for any concerns or repairs as needed.
