What are the goals of Wisconsin PRAMS?
- To help us understand why our African American infant mortality
rate, the highest in the nation, has not improved in the past 20 years. In
2006, African Americans in Wisconsin experienced 17.2 infant deaths per 1,000
live births, compared to 4.9 deaths per 1,000 live births for whites.
- To collect high-quality, population-based data not found in other
data sources, on topics related to successful pregnancy and healthy infancy.
- To translate results into information for planning and evaluating
public health programs and policy.
- To improve the health of Wisconsin babies.
