Natural Environments (continued)
Providing early intervention services in
natural environments means:
- Assisting your family with connections to other families who are natural
sources of support, such as friends, neighbors, church or synagogue members;
- Assisting you in identifying your child's strengths and talents;
- Helping you to connect with other families based on your values and
interests, rather than solely on your child's disability or differences;
- Providing your child with opportunities to learn social, language and
other skills from children their age;
- Providing your child with the opportunity to be in stimulating, everyday
places;
- Working with your early intervention providers in your family and child's
usual settings so your child can learn and use their new skills in those settings; and
- Providing opportunities for children without developmental delays or
disabilities to have friendships with your child.
