Description
&
Agenda

The Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) in the U.S. Department of Education issued the first set of state level determinations regarding the implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) for both Part C/Birth to 3 Program and Part B/3-21 year old Special Education Programs. The determinations are based on the fourteen federally defined indicators and are required under federal statute as part of ongoing efforts to improve results for children and youth with disabilities. Possible determinations awarded by OSEP include 1) Meets Requirements; 2) Needs Assistance; 3) Needs Intervention; or 4) Needs Substantial Intervention.

Wisconsin's Part C and Part B Programs both received determinations of "Needs Assistance."

The Wisline Teleconference and Webcast will be a time to share information about federal OSEP requirements; describe the minimum components required for the federal determinations and offer opportunity for dialogue on how Wisconsin will apply these components to issue local level determinations using the same four determination categories: 1) Meets Requirements; 2) Needs Assistance; 3) Needs Intervention; or 4) Needs Substantial Intervention. These initial determinations must be based upon the 2005-2006 data.
