Agenda

Do you know that HealthCheck can help families pay for over the
counter medications? Do you know that personal care may give
parents an extra hand in the home? It's important to have a
general understanding of the many state and county services that
are available to families in the Birth to 3 Program. By making
connections with other programs, Birth to 3 providers will better
utilize their resources and help families become familiar with
services that can support them after Birth to 3.
Kristina Stuart
speaks statewide about sometimes little known resources, programs
and services for children with disabilities. Her experience within
the Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services as well as past
experience in the state Birth to 3 Program give her a unique perspective
on what is valuable information to Birth to 3 providers.
Liz Hecht serves as
a contact point for families statewide as they search for answers.
She reports receiving an increased number of calls from Birth to 3
families about necessary supports. She will speak about what she's
hearing from parents.
Kristin Gowan is a
former Birth to 3 service coordinator who now works with the
Children With Special Health Care Needs Program in the Southern
Region. She has recognized specifically what this program can
offer to Birth to 3 and what resources may be better utilized. She
will also speak about how service providers, not just service
coordinators, can direct families to the support they need.
