Pathways Research Information

In 2006, Barry Delin and Anne Reither completed a logistic analysis of factors related to the relative success of Pathways participants in the areas of earnings and employment.  Important factors related to relative success included prior employment experience, type and severity of disability, and participation in Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) rather than exclusively Social Security Insurance (SSI).  Participation in the Medicaid Buy-in and the SSI waiver had particularly strong and positive impacts, though the robustness of these findings may be affected by the relatively small number of participants who used these options. Unexpectedly, education and attitudinal variables had no apparent impact on results. Finally, it is likely that the results were shaped by the specific outreach and enrollment processes associated with the Pathways demonstration.
