GRANTS AWARDED TO HELP PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES FIND EMPLOYMENT

Regional Grants Awarded to Increase Employment Opportunities

MADISON - The Department of Health Services (DHS) announces eight Wisconsin agencies are receiving one-time Pathways to Independence grants in an effort to help increase the number of integrated employment opportunities available to people with disabilities. More than $438,000 is being awarded to disability programs around Wisconsin, including a number of organizations that assist young people with disabilities in transitioning successfully from high school to the workforce.

“It’s important that we provide job opportunities for our citizens and these grants will help people with disabilities join the workforce in their communities,” said DHS Secretary Karen Timberlake. “They have skills, talents and experience to offer employers, but often face barriers to employment that prevent them from reaching their full potential. These grants will go towards efforts to better integrate this group of willing workers with disabilities into our workforce.”
