Public Input
You are invited to provide input that will be utilized in planning for and writing
Wisconsin’s 2010 Application / 2008 Annual Report submitted under the Title V MCH Services
Block Grant (includes services for Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN).
Over the course of the past year input has been gathered from stakeholders across the state
to help us identify the top maternal and child health problems and needs for Wisconsin.
In March 2005, interested stakeholders ranked the top problems/needs by population group,
considering the size of the problem, seriousness of the problem and potential for prevention.
The Family Health Section staff took this information and identified possible strategies
or activities that will help Wisconsin move toward addressing the needs. During the needs
assessment process, staff considered effectiveness, efficiency, and acceptability based on
their experience and insight regarding what can work - within the sphere of control in state
government.
As a result, the following top 10 priority needs emerged:
- Disparities in Birth Outcomes
- Contraceptive Services
- Mental Health (for all population groups)
- Medical Home (for all children)
- Dental Health
- Health Insurance and Access to Health Care
- Smoking and Tobacco Use
- Intentional Childhood Injuries
- Unintentional Childhood Injuries
- Overweight and At Risk for Overweight
(Note: Go to the State Priority Needs page
for details on each priority need)
